Recommended Posts

There is a reel mower on ebay right now and was curious to know if it belongs to a member on R.S.? Would be interested in it and curious if it is one that can be attached to a Suburban?

Thanks for any help

What? Did I miss something? Didn't think I did anything against the rules here?

The guy emailed me and said he is a member on R.S. but hasn't visited here lately.

I'm sure it was spam, member joined 6 min. before making a real odd post about hand bags, with a link.

D.J., John,

Kelly isn't referring to the original post that D.J. posted. There was a spammer who posted immediately after D.J. did in this thread, trying to sell hand bags. I deleted the post and Karl banned the guy. As for as I know, the topic of this thread is legit.

The reel mower on ebay is legit..... its an early style for an RJ but would work on a Suburban.

Thanks guys. Gotta love those spammers...got another email yesterday about my post there regarding the solenoid. He was from England so I just deleted it.

Would really like to get that reel mower but a little far from me.

Don't totally discredit our fellow Wheel Horse people from England or anywhere, there are a few owners over there and they have a hard time getting parts. A lot of eBay sellers won't ship over there, but there are some legit people looking, and a lot and lot of spanners trying to look legit.

First look at the number of posts to see if they have been around and always money upfront. It's common that they will have to pay $30 shipping for a $10 part (2#), but PayPal seems VERY secure and safe.

I've sold some items to a guy in Australia recently; he said that Wheel Horse shipped at least 100 of the 300-series tractors over there in the mid-80's to a dealer 'down' there, so these little tractors can show up anywhere.

Glen,

not being rude or disrespectful to any of our Horse lovers on the other side of the pond. Know they are good group of people. Have a fellow Brit I deal with on the toy truck side.

This was the email:

"Do you still need parts? I have some spares I'm looking to sell at

very affordable and negotiable prices.Let me know.. Whats your phone #?"

That is not solenoid specific. Maybe I'm wrong but also never mentioned the R.S. member.

Not meant to contradict anyone, but I think DJ is right to be suspicious of any email from overseas. I actually got a very similar worded email when I was looking to trade a narrow frame Cub Cadet for a wide frame Cub Cadet. The wording and the tone were similar and it was from the UK. I deleted it.

When using Craig's List, you have to be aware of scam artists. They send you an email, usually not very specific, just so you will email them back. The second email from them usually tips their hand and you can then easily identify them as a scam. After seeing a couple of the "first" emails you start to recognize them as scams. The one DJ posted was a typical, non-specific email from a scam artist.

Bottom line: Be aware, be suspicious, be safe.

...and I don't think our overseas members will take any offense at anything in this thread. Chances are they get hit with attempted fraud as much as we do. Since their manners are usually better than my own, I would bet our overseas members would PM and identify themselves properly in the first place.

Glad to have 'em aboard, and thanks, T-Mo, for keeping this place clean! :wh:

Duff  :)
