Dave 0 #1 Posted April 19, 2008 Does anyone have a source for reproduction seat, seat covers, or just a plain cover? I have a C81 that I'm sprucing up. I have the original seat but the covering is in bad shape. It looks easy to replace if I could find a replacement.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,610 #2 Posted April 19, 2008 Dave, First off, . I'm glad you found us. As for seats, I do know there have some members here that bought a seat from TSC and liked them. If you want to redo the seats covers, you could take them somewhere that does vinyl and leather type work. There was a member here who did a stamping I believe of the Wheel Horse logo, but I'm not sure on that.

Dave 0 #4 Posted April 19, 2008 Dave, First off, . I'm glad you found us. Thanks. As for seats, I do know there have some members here that bought a seat from TSC and liked them. If you want to redo the seats covers, you could take them somewhere that does vinyl and leather type work. That might be what I end up doing. It shouldn't cost too much at an auto upholstery shop to have a small cover made. I could cut the logo out of the old seat and have them sew it on the new one. I'm just trying to get out of it as cheap as I can.
Dave 0 #5 Posted April 19, 2008 Here's some that have been on ebay a while, I dont know what they fit... That seat looked strange. The original is all black. This one at Northern Tool looks good, and it's on sale. I'd like to get a cover for my 502 that has all the ribs of the original. I wonder what an upholstery shop could do? SunDown 0 #6 Posted April 19, 2008 figure this, I just had a motorcycle seat covered; its off a 77 honda. it cost $132 to cover it and they did a nice job but it could have been better. I would think what you can find at northern tool would suffice. Thats where I got mine for my horse. No way id pay anything close to 132 for a seat on a tractor...if you plan on using the tractor that is.
Kelly 1,033 #7 Posted April 19, 2008 I got one with arm rest from Northen tools, price of the seat and shipping to the hose was only $56 total, nice high back with armrest and says toro on the back. I've seen orig. ones like on your tractor sell on ebay but bring big money $100 or more, I have a perfect orig. but not for sale ,.
Stigian 1,234 #8 Posted April 19, 2008 Me being the cheap skate that i am tend to put any seat that can be made to fit (by modifying the seat of course) on my WH's Id love to have seats with WH logo's on my fleet, but as ever its all down to money Oh and Dave

I use it to tow a trailer full of llama manure, or tools, around my little 5.5 acre ranch.

I think I'll end up getting one of those at Northern Tools. $100 is a bit much for my budget. I'm also trying to find a way to move the seat back a few inches. It's kind of difficult to get off and on the thing as it is now.
KyBlue 655 #11 Posted April 20, 2008 I have a buddy that does upholstery. He did the headliner and recovered the seat in my truck. He's pretty good at it. Next time I talk to him, Ill see if he can do tractor seats and how much, what he'd need etc etc. If anybody is interested. He did an awesome job on my headliner and the bench. Ive got some pics of his work if anybody wants to see examples. I think a Seat with the WH logo in it would be pretty sweet!

Can't be much more of a cheap skate than that. Thanks for the welcome.

If he could just duplicate a cover that would replace the covering on the original seat for that same $40 he might have some business. I'd be interested. The logo would be great too. Dave 0 #16 Posted April 21, 2008 Dave, Here's an old thread that dealt with seats: Thanks. The Northern Tool seat they were talking about was the same one I picked out. I think I'll get that seat next month when the pay checks start coming in again.
kpinnc 14,652 #17 Posted April 21, 2008 This one at Northern Tool looks good, and it's on sale. Dave, I snagged one of those from Northern in the link. It should be here in a few days. I'll let you know how it looks. Kevin

kpinnc 14,652 #19 Posted April 24, 2008 Well Dave, if you get one DO NOT order it online. Mine arrived today, and it is a beautiful, high-backed, quality CUB CADET seat. Apparently, the fine print says "pattern may vary".... Go get it in person! Kevin
Dave 0 #20 Posted April 24, 2008 Thanks. I'd do that, but the nearest store is in Texas, about a 12 hour drive from here. I may have no choice.
Kelly 1,033 #21 Posted April 25, 2008 That's a bummer Kevin, that your's says CC on it but I'm sure it's still a nice seat, I got lucky and mine says Toro on it.
CasualObserver 3,411 #22 Posted April 25, 2008 Is there a comment section in the order form? If so you could try requesting a specific logo first, a blank one second, and whatever's available as only option.
WheelHorse_of_course 99 #23 Posted April 25, 2008 Dave, I too have working horse, not show ponies. Given that yours is a work horse maybe all you need is a roll of duct tape! Actually, I am lucky. The Charger came with a very nice boat seat. It ieven swivels which makes getting off easier. The PO did give me the original seat in case I want to turn it into a show pony, but I think I may sell or give it away. Best of luck :WRS:
Dave 0 #24 Posted April 25, 2008 Actually, I am lucky. The Charger came with a very nice boat seat. It ieven swivels which makes getting off easier. That sounds interesting..... Mine is a working pony, but I want to keep it running nice. I rely on the thing. And I just peeled half a pound of duct tape off the seat and replaced it with vinyl tape then put the cover back on. Much better to sit on now.
