While I was waiting on some new parts for the 1067 I thought I would tackle the fuel "issues" that I knew the tractor has. The previous owner had installed an electric fuel pump which told me that he had given up on the mechanical one. Just to look at it It didn't look like any one had tried to see what was wrong. Thanks to the posts on redsquare I decided to put my mechanical skills to the test and have a look inside....

here is what I found... after a good cleaning, I am getting good suction on the inlet and everything seems to be working fine. I took off the electric pump and now on to the carb I go.

So, I got some life out of the tractor last night. Rebuilt fuel pump, clean carb, fresh oil, new ignition switch, new spark plug and a good battery. I just couldn't wait to get the fuel lines on so I just sprayed some fuel into the carb and it fired up on the third turn! Woke my three boys up so I had to do it again for them once their mother let them come out and check it out! Fuel lines go on tonight and with any luck, I will be touring the neighbourhood tomorrow.

Again, thanks to all of the guys who helped on my other post with wiring diagrams, pictures etc. Great learning experience!

The tractor is running! The transmission feels good. Just one question. I am having trouble getting it to idle smooth. I set the idle screw and the main screw to the factory settings (1-1/4 for the idle and 2 for the main) but it just doesn't seem to want to idle. It hunts up and down and then stalls. At full throttle it does miss and looses power in high gear up hills. Any ideas? Possibly a timing issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you still need a little adjustment on the carb. The factory setting are just a starting piont. Set you high speed firstFull throttle no load, tweak it till you get a nice smooth run, then idle down and set your low speed. You may have to set the idle a little high till you get it snoothed out then back the idle down to about 1000 rpm and fine tune the low speed

trying to set the high speed jet tonight and it just won't smooth out. I can get it to start nice and idle relatively good but at full throttle it misses and won't run smooth. Could it be a timing problem? or possibly the points? It seems strong under no load but as soon as I take it out of the garage to drive around it looses rpm and seems to "bog" down.
