Electric PTO Removal

Recommended Posts

MaineDad

Guys,

I did some searching on RS on how to remove the electric clutch on my B-100, but I still need help. I removed the bolt in the middle of the clutch with no problem. I read in other threads to use a 5/8 bolt about 6 inches long to pressure the clutch off the shaft.

My question is do I use the same size bolt that I removed, just longer? The bolt I removed is 7/16 fine thread that has a 5/8 hex head.

Thanks,

If you look in the end of the clutch it has threads in it, you need a 5/8" thread bolt, I put a washer or two coated with grease on the end of the crank so you don't scar the crank up, I now have a automotive A/C compressor clutch removal tool that works so much better, and it will also install them with out pounding on them, you might take the tractor, to a auto shop that does A/C repair and have them press it off.

Ok got the big bolt and used some grease and a couple of washers. Problem is, I cannot stop the PTO/shaft from spinning. I have tried huge C-clamps and brute strength. Any other tricks or suggestions to stop it from spinning?

Get 10 feet of clean rope and stuff 3 feet of it into the spark plug hole so the piston can't go past TDC.
