Freebyrd1 0 #1 Posted October 10, 2010 Hi folks, I have noticed that I can buy a decent tractor with out a deck very reasonable. I have a 314A with a deck and plow. I would like to buy one of these tractors and use my deck on one and the plow on the other, how can I be sure the deck or plow will fit the tractor that I buy? refracman 167 #3 Posted October 10, 2010 If thats a pic of your deck, yes it'll fit. The only difference will be the deck drive pulley. Hopefully the ID tag is still on your deck, reference the deck to the year with a 12hp tractor and use that belt. With that being said all C/3/4/5 series decks will interchange except the C195's and the 520 60" deck. The only difference of 36/42/48" through the years is the splindes and drive pulleys. You can also use the D series and C 195 48" decks by changeing the hanging brackets to the C/3/4/5 series hangers. Just finding the right belt is the trick! Freebyrd1 0 #4 Posted October 10, 2010 Thanks, I will be shopping for the next tractor. I am going to try to stay with the 300 line it might make the endevor a little easer. I have the 314 A set up for plowing snow at present but could change either way. I have noticed some guys don't have wheel weights on for plowing, any suggestions? When it come to snow, there are a lot of things to weigh (pun) in. 6 to 8 inches of dry snow is a different animal then 3 inches of wet. Inclines compared to level driveways, will be a factor. When going down hill, weight is great, but going up hill can work against you. I actually think that the wheel weights are more for plowing, disking fields then for snow removal. While a certain amount of weight can improve performance, I would take the traction first. 2 or 4 link tire chains, AG's for tires or a good traction snow tire. Nothing wrong with having wheel weights though, you just may need a little more traction depending upon what you have. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
mavfreak 11 #6 Posted October 10, 2010 steve is right. The wieght should be to the rear for traction. The front may slide on you when plowing with blade on angle. but you can lrean to deal with that.
