Spring time is here!

for the ol' grass cuttin season. early last summer I got my new to me 520H running with some unplanned maintenace(ask me later about that fiasco). Well after I finished up I took a look at the Onan owner's manual and found I should have looked at the manual first. The manual said at 1000 hours the heads needed to be removed to clean the carbon off the pistons and heads. The ol' 520 reads 1045 hours on the meter. Also as I was puttin' it back together I saw some rust on the inside of the large fan shroud I wanted to take care of. So this spring I did the PM on the heads and pistons. I did a bunch of unplanned maintenance too like sand blasted and painted with hi-temp POR15 the muffler and inside of the fan shroud I was speakin' of. While I was at it I took the carb off and cleaned it thoroughly. Like flippin' a light switch, is the difference. Snappy throttle response and perfectly smooth idle. I jus' love that 20 horse twin! Below is a pic of the 520H just as I was finishing up the latest maintenance evolution.

I had to replace one of the muffler bolts too as the original had stripped the threads in the block to the depth of the bolt. Just used a longer one, got it cut to just the right length to come nearly the bottom of the hole. Thanks for lookin'!

Nice post, love the 520H, pretty tractor. 1045 hours, wow that is great. You know you have a lot left in that motor too. I've heard stories of Onan twins lasting well over 2000 hours. Keep a good oil and change it frequently and you'll have it a long time.
