mr.pipes 4 #1 Posted October 7, 2010 I picked up a 605 with a ST-325 thrower this past weekend. The snow thrower came with some bits and pieces in a box. It's missing the chute crank knob and cable. I want to make sure that's all I'm missing. If anyone has some close up pics of how it attaches and the belt routing that would be super. I would like to see how the pole connects to the lift arm also. I haven't had a chance to mess with it yet. Its been raining since I got it and there is no more room in the garage. Surprise surprise! mr.pipes 4 #3 Posted October 7, 2010 Thanks pumper, unfortunately that link is for Attach-a-Matic era tractors and my 605 is a 1965. I didn't find anything in the picture gallery that helped. I found the manual and other same era thrower manuals but not the pics I am looking for. Hopefully the weather lets up and tomorrow I can try and see where I get. mr.pipes 4 #5 Posted October 8, 2010 Thanks Lane Ranger, that is exactly what I wanted to see. Before I saw your pics I mounted it in the dark with a flashlight in a couple of minutes. I didn't realize it just slid over the outside of the frame. I think I was confused because I was given an extra set of deck mounting plates, latch and pulley. I thought those may have bolted to the frame and accepted the thrower. Once I had the thrower and machine next to each other it was a lot clearer. In your pics there is snow on the thrower and no chains. Do you get enough traction without the chains on? Please tell me I didn't need to use chains on the brand new driveway. How does the 6 hp do? I still need to rebuild the carb to get mine going but I do have a couple of 8 hp Tecumseh's and a 7 hp Kohler for back up. Thanks again for the pics. Lane Ranger 11,395 #6 Posted October 8, 2010 I had chains on when I first used my blower on the Lawn Ranger but took them off. I have old concrete on my drive and any chain marks is not much of an issue. But the 8 HP worked real well as far as I was concerned -as several here have said before -it beats shoveling! I run it in first gear -almost full throttle and it does fine even in a 6 to 8 inch snowfall.
