Hobo 0 #1 Posted October 4, 2010 I wrench on old Harleys as a hobby, but thought my hydraulic lift could use some company since I have the tractor/quad extensions on each side. Picked up a '89 310-8 with a plow. She needs quite a bit of TLC, and I'll try to post some pics later. Took the carb off and cleaned her up good. She runs, but misses a little so I may check the points/plug/etc. Doesn't appear to be charging as the battery reads 12.5 running or not. Clutch and brake pedals are all the way rearward and she doesn't want to engage and move very well - moves in jerks. Going to Toro tonight to pick up a new drive belt and I guess I'll learn the machine just like I do my old bikes - one project at a time! Good to know there's a forum like this. We have one for our old Harleys and it's a wealth of information. Looks like this one is just the same, only for WH machines! As an aside, I have family in Portland, IN so I've heard nothing but good things about the annual tractor show there! Hobo

Trouty56 565 #18 Posted October 8, 2010 Wow!! I'd say it is small. My grandfather lived a block from the school on the hill. I don't know how old you are but he was a barber named 'Reds' Bittinger. Cut hair for years in town. Been gone now some 25 years. You're 37 so he may have cut your hair.

Hobo 0 #25 Posted October 8, 2010 Thanks for the welcome all. Stopped by my Toro dealer today and picked up a drive belt for her. Hopefully this will fix the jerky, slipping drive and help put the pedals somewhere back near the 12-oclock position. Right now their both all the way rearward. Looking forward to getting her ready for some snow this winter...
