4spd 1 inch axels

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a transmission a while back and it has 1inch axles. I know the lawn ranger used it but what else did? Looking at buying a Commando 8, did that use 1inch axles?

Ummmmm...... there were only a few three (four) speeds that didn't have one inch axles. :)

Did you look for any numbers cast into the cases?

Does it have short, medium, or long axles?

Is the brake drum on the countershaft or the pinion shaft?

Yes -- the Commando 8 would have one inch axles too.

Wow Terry, thats something I've never seen.

Which 4 speeds had 1 1/8" axles?

Have you ever seen a 1" axle trans, with anything other than a 4 pinion diff?

The 3 speed Uni-Drives used in the 953/1054/1054A/1057/1257 had the (long) 1 1/8" diameter axles.

I'm not positive, but there may have been some bevel gear differentials that used 1" axles.

Thanks Terry! I actually have a 1057 sitting in my driveway and hadnt noticed the axles before. But in my defence, I've only owned it for 6 hours!!

Sorry for the hijack there Pumper! But it is kinda relevant...
