300zx 7 #1 Posted September 27, 2010 Lane Ranger's picture of his Dad on a 1054 plowing his garden made me think it is about time to fall plow the garden. I have an 857 with a slot hitch and plow that does a great job. My C121 with a Brinly hitch and plow is always a disappointment. It pulls too far left with the right side wheels in the furrow. I have adjusted it at the hitch and "tail slider" (or what ever it is called) to work to the right side of the tractor as far as I can. The last two years, my neighbor has ridden the front axle to try to keep the front end in the furrow (I hope no one took pictures!!!!). I would like to use a bigger tractor, like the C121 or the 520, for plowing. My 520 has a slot hitch, but I don't think that will be the solution since the 520's wheel base is wider than the 857. I have considered a 3 pt hitch with the Brinly 3 pt attachment that will allow me to move the plow attachment further to the right. Does anyone else have this same problem and how do you solve it? This Virginia clay is not easy to plow!!! '
Indy w h 5 #3 Posted September 29, 2010 With my 1054 I plow in the center hole with the bolts tight. The bolts on the brinly hitch keeps the "slop" out of the plow and keeps it straight. The hitch on the plow is adjustable too. If you run it in the middle hole it should pull easier. The crank is to adjust the "heel " which all it does is keeps the plow level in the furrow. If ya got any questions shoot me a PM Indy
PlowDayJunkie 3 #4 Posted October 9, 2010 You can check to see if you can flip your rear wheels.... put the left on the right and the right on the left, you may shrink the offset of the tires and get the plow further to the right....also use the plow in the the far left hole and make sure your Brinly hitch on the plow is on the left side of the plow arm this also moves everything to the right......... hope this helps. 300zx 7 #5 Posted October 9, 2010 Thanks, I will take a look. I am also going to get my slot hitch plow that I used on the 857 back from my son this weekend and see how it does on the C121 without the Brinly hitch.
