Bought my first

Got tired of the push mower, opened the local swap list, and found a C175 twin auto- with a KT17S engine. Neat thing is the seller had all the literature that came with it except the bill of sale, so I don't know what the original price would have been on 6/17/84. I paid $500 for tractor, 42" deck, and dozer blade (no snow in Florida, so it's a dozer blade here....). Stopped and got a PTO belt on the way home, filled it with gas, and mowed 2.5 acres, having way more fun than I should. Since then, I've put in new plugs, new air filter, ordered new blades, fabricated new battery tie downs. Any tips as to paint color? Some rust I need to take care of... I plan on doing an oil change, and a tranny change and filter. Anything else I should be looking to do? I haven't looked at the contacts yet- should I just order a set and replace them, figuring they are probably 24 years old?

I figure I probably ought to do some maintenance now while it's still new to me.

Thanks,

Mike R

First off, . Second, congratulations on your "new" C-175. I hope you wasn't mowing that 2.5 acres with a push mower. :P It sounds like you have pretty good idea on maintenance. That's the main thing. As for as paint, there's a section here that deals with painting and there's a thread in there on paint colors. And remember we  . :D

Sounds like you have a good one. I like that old ad, they are always fun to look at but at that time, those tractors were a ton of money!

Glad I only paid $700 for a few hundred hours. Isn't it fun to cut on these?

I agree, that was a ton of money, but for the quality ya get, its a good price. Kinda like paying for Snap On tools vs goin to harbor freight ... sure the 3/8" ratchet is 70 bucks, but it'll be handed down to my kids - just like the WH Stuff

GOod find... and
