VinsRJ 721 #4 Posted September 26, 2010 If that is the original motor its either a K90 or K91. K91's showed up in later production RJs. Either way alot of parts swap between the 90's and 91's. You can run a round filter on these tractors. I do believe though the 12hp filter will have a larger opening than your carb inlet air horn. But if it fits, its fits and it will work. As for the recoil, your machine would have had a Kohler, Schnacke or Fairbanks. From the starter cup on the flywheel I would say your unit had a Fairbanks on it at one time. And yes the K90-91 recoils would have a small or smaller bolt mount spacing than its K-Series brothers. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
sorekiwi 761 #5 Posted September 26, 2010 The RJ I used to have had a Tecumseh recoil on it. The hard part is finding the right depth cup to go on the flywheel. I ended up "cutting and shutting" a deep tecumseh cup to suit mine. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
