Duff 206 #2 Posted September 25, 2010 Larry, if you can take a close-up or give us the serial number on the shift pattern decal it may help with the identification...... Duff :)
daemon2525 5 #4 Posted September 25, 2010 Well as the title says. I don't know exactly what this tractor is. There are no tags left. I am guessing 1962 or 1963. Sorry about the crappy pictures. They are pretty when they are 3MB but when I resize them the turn bad.
daemon2525 5 #5 Posted September 25, 2010 Serial number is 62-2625
bell 11 #6 Posted September 25, 2010 Yes, it's a 1962 702 or 552...
daemon2525 5 #7 Posted September 25, 2010 The wife is running me off of the bedroom PC. She has to get up at 3:30am to bake bread for SUBWAY sandwich. I'll be back later on the laptop. I'm gonna go look at it more. I will need the guards on both sides if anyone has any.
daemon2525 5 #8 Posted September 25, 2010 How would I know the difference between a 552 and 702. Or do I even care? I think it's going to have an 8hp Kohler if I can cram it in there. The 8hp does not look like it will fit. By just a smidge.
bell 11 #9 Posted September 25, 2010 It can really be whichever one you want. The only difference between the two was the engine. (and possible MINOR differences on the wiring/ choke & throttle cables) The 8hp kohler will bolt right up! If it is a starter/generator engine, you'll be set. If it is a gear reduction starter, you'll need a motorcycle style battery... You'll also need to find a thin style air cleaner to clear the hood. Good luck with it! daemon2525 5 #10 Posted September 25, 2010 You are right Bell. It is a starter/gen engine and the biggest problem seems to be the air cleaner. I have not looked close enough to see if the hood will clear the spark plug.
bell 11 #11 Posted September 25, 2010 It will clear, if it is the correct plug. :)
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,495 #12 Posted September 25, 2010 According to service bulletin #26 dated November 29, 1961 it was at serial 62-2623 that they started using a cast iron lift lever plunger 4438. That is close to your 62-2625. Just a bit of trivia. Garry
daemon2525 5 #13 Posted October 20, 2010 Well, I got the drive belt guard and the left side guard at Portland last weekend. I still need a seat and spring. And my hood is really crap, I think that I might get one for less than I can take this one to a body shop?
