puddlejumper 67 #1 Posted September 20, 2010 Hi guys, Been awhile, hope everyone's doing okay. I have an identifying problem and can use some help. Due to the hood and hood stand and no sign of a solenoid ever being mounted in the toolbox, I brought home what I thought was a 400 Suburban on Tuesday. But, when comparing to my 550, now I don't know what I've got. Either my 550 is a 551 with a 550 hood or my new tractor is an RJ with a 60 hood and hood stand. PICTURE COMPARISON 550 Straight Shift Lever New Tractor Bent Shift Lever 550 Angle Side Plates on Front of Transmission New Tractor Squared Off Plates on Front of Transmission New Tractor has what appears to be a hood mounting strap on front of frame that 550 does not have 550 Has Flat Bar for Clutch Pedal New Tractor has Round Stock for Clutch Pedal Here are more miscellaneous pictures of new tractor, any suggestions on what make and model this tractor is would be appreciated. buckrancher 2,694 #2 Posted September 20, 2010 I'am thinking 401 the 551 has the 701's cast trans. cases the shift lever may not be stock looks like a newer one late 702 and up the pedal you are showing I believe is for ingaging a belly mower not a clutch pedal the clutch pedal should be on the left side as your other tractor it does have one 1960 foot pad (left side )one homemade on the other what you call the hood mounting strap does not belong there hopefully someone else will chime in Brian Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted September 20, 2010 The "new" tractor is definitely a 1960. I would lean more towards a 400, but that doesn't mean that it couldn't be a 550 either. A lot can change or be changed in 50 years, so you can't always go by what's there now.
