Rideawaysenior 25 #1 Posted April 13, 2008 Ok, when I got the D200 home, I fired it up, and slid the hydro lever forwards. Nothing happened. I figured the pump was bad. I replaced it with a NOS hydro pump. Fired it up again and nothing same problem. If I let it idle, it will build enough pressure to lift the 3 point and when I let it back down it won't lift back up. I now know the pump was not the problem. I flushed the tranny, changed the oil and filter. Any other suggestions as to where to look? I'm at a loss. .5racer 14 #2 Posted April 13, 2008 Is the by - pass - valve on the side closed. Should be on the left side as you sit on it . Close the valve with a flat tipped screw driver . Clock wise to close for operation, counter clock to allow to roll without motor power.
Rideawaysenior 25 #3 Posted April 13, 2008 Yeah, I forgot to mention that. The dump valve has been checked too. That is not where the problem lies either.
.5racer 14 #4 Posted April 13, 2008 But the three point and mid point do lift and lower ?
Rideawaysenior 25 #5 Posted April 13, 2008 If I rev the engine it will lift and then lower. If I try it repeatedly, it will only do it once. On the second attempt, it would not go up. I had to rev the engine again.

Rideawaysenior 25 #7 Posted April 13, 2008 Terry, I flushed and filled the trans, replaced the filter, and put in a NOS pump. The problem I am having now is the same problem that I had when the old pump was in there. I'm thinking there is a pressure releif valve somewhere that I don't see that is stuck open perhaps. nylyon-(Admin) 7,882 #9 Posted April 13, 2008 I am shooting from the hip on this one because I have no clue on how the pumps are powered. But is there a pulley / shaft where the keyway could be sheared?
Rideawaysenior 25 #10 Posted April 13, 2008 Thats where I'm thinking it is too. I just found it behind the left tire on the fender. I also just bought one on ebay for 25.00 hopefully that is my problem. I have not had a chance to do a pressure test yet, but I would think with a new pump, I would be ok with that. The only other thing I could think of would be a PRV somewhere. I'll let you know what I find. Thank you for your help. Jack
Rideawaysenior 25 #11 Posted April 13, 2008 Hey Karl, The pumps on the D series are splined shaft coupled directly to the engine. I've looked at that already. I'm now thinking with the help of Terry that it is a pressure releif valve stuck in the open position.
.5racer 14 #12 Posted April 13, 2008 Wonder if the hoses could be crossed on the relief . Wondered that when I put ine together . But it worked the first time out . The hook up on the hydro pump is connested derectly to the front side of motor by a splined conection and that could have come loose and slip under load ! Good thought nylyon !. But if you replaced the pump you should have caught that .
.5racer 14 #13 Posted April 13, 2008 What abou the hydro drive in the rear end , could it have gone bad, thats the part on the rear end that looks like the front pump and suppose to have the same parts for operation. There are two check valve springs in the rearend as well. Trying to open and paste but not gettin any luck.

Rideawaysenior 25 #18 Posted April 13, 2008 Steve, Any help I can get would be great. I am learning alot about these hydros on teh D series by jumping in head first. Not quite the indoctrination I was hoping for, but a good way to learn I suppose. I'd love to get this thing operating as well as the engine runs. It sure will be a nice machine when done. Thanks again for your help. Jack
