wh500special 2,073 #3 Posted September 12, 2010 It will work nicely. If you do a search for "diesel" on this forum you'll find reports from a few guys who have done it. I am in no way, shape, or form an expert on this topic; but here's my thread: Diesel transplant Steve

Jim_M 178 #5 Posted September 12, 2010 I've got a 13 horse Yanmar clone under the hood of a 520-H. It fits, just barely, but it fits.
wh500special 2,073 #6 Posted September 12, 2010 do you think it will fit under a c-81 hood without having to cut it? I'm guessing you'll have to lift the hood at the hinge maybe an inch. The air cleaner might hit too on the side, but if you're crafty these things can be worked out without surgery. Steve
Shuboxlover 474 #7 Posted September 12, 2010 Plus you can probably mow your WHOLE yard with about a cup of fuel....
Dale 0 #8 Posted September 12, 2010 any ideas on how to hook up a fuel pump so could use my gas tank under seat.
KC9KAS 4,741 #9 Posted September 12, 2010 An electric automotive type fuel pump can be used, and they aren't that expensive.
Dale 0 #10 Posted September 12, 2010 I think the 6 hp diesel might be a better fit
Jim_M 178 #11 Posted September 12, 2010 If you use the tank under the seat you'll have to add a connection to it somewhere. The diesels have a return line back to the tank. I'm guessing you'll also need to raise the hood, the engines are pretty tall. You would be amazed at how powerful these little diesels are. I have a 4 horse in a 654 and it feels every bit as powerful as an eight horse gas engine. As someone else said they're cheap to operate.
