Ok I know it's a little early but I'm thinking of getting ready for winter. So what is the best combination for plowing snow. I'll be using 55# wheel weights on both sides rear. Ags plain? Ags with chains? Or turf tires with chains? The area I plow is not flat and has some pavement and some gravel sections. Thanks for any input.

Really kind of depends on if you want the pavement scratched up. Chains can do a real number on paved driveways. They do make a hard rubber style chain if that is your concern.

I run my 312-8 with ags and 50 pounds in each wheel as well as 175 lbs. of suitcase weights off of the back. I haven't had any problem with getting stuck.

Also remember the narrower the tire the better the traction as you are not spreading all of that weight out over a large area. 23x8.50 work best on mine.

If you go the chain route I would use those weights and put them on turfs.......but that is just my opinion. If you go ags I wouldn't use chains.......but again just my opinion.

Same here I have ags on all my tractors but use turf tire's with chains in winter I blow snow on alot of side walks in my small town. Plus i hate putting on the chains so i have 2 sets of turf tire's with chains and leave them on.year round all I have to do is change over the tire's this is what works for me!!

Steve...it is never too early to get ready for winter... I agree with Scott on all of what he said. I use chains with turf tires and with me on the seat, I don't need wheel weights

One thing Scott forgot...always good to have some Rock & Rye on hand. The horse isn't the only one that gets to warm up first. Plus one for when the work is done while you admire the landscape.
