curly 0 #1 Posted April 11, 2008 I have a John deere LX178 that is in need of a hood replacement. Was originally Kawasaki water cooled and changing over to 20HP Kohler. Did not get hood when bought mower but rest of mower is in great shape so replacing motor and hoping to find hood for replacement. T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,569 #2 Posted April 11, 2008 Curly, Any LX100 series hood would do. But, these are getting harder to find and are expensive if you buy one, especially from JD. I recommend ebay as I see these from time to time. Here's one: hood The hood comes in 2 pieces and there are a couple of auctions on ebay for the lower hood as well as the upper hood. Maybe cheaper that way or not. JD sells the hood in pieces, upper, lower, hinges, etc. The upper is $190 and the lower is $205, new, from Deere. They're not cheap.
