753 Transformation

Suburban 550

What started out as a 753 I bought on E-bay as a parts tractor back in November is gradually being turned into an 854 workin' machine (no more trailer queens). I've never owned a round hood that I used as a worker and decided this would be the one. Special thanks to Duke (HorseFixer) for the 854 hood (not on yet) and a great deal on the plow, Steve (Stevasaurus) for the rear hitch for the plow, Brian (Buckrancher) for his machine work on gettin' the broken head bolt out and rebushing the throttle shaft on the carburetor, and Mark for pickin' up the tractor after I bought it and meeting me half way. :) Still have more parts to change over yet such as the K-181 belt guard, air cleaner, and longer 854 hood. Came along way since I decided not to part it out.

Thanks Ken. :) Looked pretty sad when I brought it home, but I didn't have the heart to tear it down and use it for parts.

Ray,

Looking real nice. I remember the head bolt incident. :) I've got a whole new set of drill bits now, so no more Pandora's box comments. :wh:

Looks like you're going to have a real nice little worker there. I have been cleaning up some stuff around the shop and was going to take most of my left-over metal to the recycler, but then I thought, maybe I can build another one from scrap...

Then my wife came along... :)

Off to the recycler.

Anyway, good job Ray. :USA:

Looking good! I almost like the automotive bias-plys on the rear in the before pics :)

Bob, I totally forgot to thank you for the use of "Pandoras Box" at the show. :USA: Even though you're broken bit inside the exhaust port caused another problem for me, I much appreciated your help. :) It was a learning experience for all and sure glad to hear you got yourself a good set of drill bits. :) Don't forget to add a couple of easy outs to your box. :wh:

Easy-outs are on my list of "tools I must have before the next WHCC show". :)

And you'll have plenty of time to make it look workable too. Keep us posted.

Nice post to read. Team work again by RS members. Now you have a nice worker also. :USA: Everyone wins! (except for the recycled wife) :)
