GlenPettit 1,717 #2 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) For appearance first, I like the Firestone 23 (and they ride quite smoothly). Shown with Scott's new Rear Hitch assembly, which I really like and use daily. . . . Tires are filled with "RimGuard" (about 65+ pounds each, plus iron 'inside' weights bolted on, two halves at 20# each), tires are only filled to 80% full with "Beet Juice", top 20% is just 10psi of Air for a softer ride. whfan74 2,072 #5 Posted September 1, 2010 I personally would go with the 8.50's. The bigger tire displaces the weight more. The narrower tire will give you more traction and will also allow the rear tire to fit better in the furrows when you are plowing a garden. Be careful with the amount of weight you put on the back rims. I wouldn't want to see you pushing your tractor with only one rear wheel still attached. zanepetty 117 #8 Posted August 24, 2013 I just put true powers on my 753 and I love them. Much better for all around use than turf tread. Hope you like them!
bean 85 #9 Posted August 24, 2013 (edited) I've had a few different ags for gardening, and agree with everyone. 8.50 tru powers. their square shoulder design bite better than any thai I have used. narrow tires with an aggressive tread works better in the dirt I have deestones right now, and they are decent too. they ride rough is the only negative. papaglide 542 #10 Posted August 25, 2013 (edited) I like the look of the 8.50's and agree with the usefulness of the narrower tire. I prefer wheel weights over loaded tires too, the loaded tires ride way too hard for me. Edited August 25, 2013 by papaglide
zanepetty 117 #11 Posted August 25, 2013 I agree. I'm looking for weights right now. I like them much better than loaded tires.
MalMac 1,332 #12 Posted August 25, 2013 Defiantly go with 8.50 for better traction. As far as brand I only use Firestone 23 deg. Flotation. We also use them on are big farm tractors.
Tankman 3,523 #13 Posted August 26, 2013 I don't plow the earth anymore but, when I did, front weights were more help (necessary) to get the job done. Without the front weights my steering was gone, kaput. Rear wheel weights, cast WH, one on each rear wheel. Job was always easy, and neatly done. Only done 'cause I had front weights on.
