1045 Wheel Color

Recommended Posts

Gene_S

Just looking for an opinion on what color should the rims be on the 1045... Did they use linen beige or Ivory? I looked in the picture gallory at BPjunk (Bills) and his front and rear look off white.

Whats the verdict?

linen beige

The "off white" is Linen beige.

Wheel Horse changed the name from Ivory to Linen Beige around 1965 or so, and continued it's use until at least 1980.

Gene this is a tough one.........I am not 100% sure on this one. I would tend to say it is the off white and not the "creamier" linen beige color. But if you do it wrong........don't blame me! :)

Sure seems like one of the members here on RS has 4 or 5 1045's and was hoping they'd chime in...

Ok Gene what is it you want to know?? I have a few 1045's most of the rims are kinda rusty, and Me I think Ivory and linen beige are about the same, I had linen beige mixed this year in automotive paint (that is what the raffle rims were painted with) and compared it to rims I painted Ivory and almost no difference

linen beige

I guess I wasn't really clear. Ivory, Off white and Linen beige are all the same color. Wheel Horse just used different names over the years. The variations in "colors" are due to age, UV fading, dirt in the paint, staining, etc. I have a set of NOS wheels that did not see daylight from 1962 until 2008. No UV fading and still as clean as the day they were first painted. When I dismounted the tires on my 1980 D-160 last summer I found that the color of the insides of the rims almost perfectly matched the NOS wheels.
