RyanC 0 #1 Posted August 28, 2010 Hello, I've got an opportunity to buy this tractor and I could really use your help. I'm very new to wh tractors and I wanted to get your opinion. Let me know if you can see any problems from the pics or anything in general about the tractor. The owner just got it in a land purchase deal. He found it in one of the barns on the property and called me to see if it was something I was interested in. Unfortunately he won't put a price on it, so I guess it's up to me. Let me know what you think it's worth. I'm trying to put a dollar amount on it without any more knowledge of the tractor. He said that it ran a few years ago but has been just sitting in the barn. He did say that it will turn over but just won't start. Thanks so much for your help! Ryan
clintonnut 126 #2 Posted August 28, 2010 Offer him $100 bucks for it! Looks complete except for the s/g belt guard. You can usually get $300 for a running one of the same condition. All original is a plus except for that goofy light. Charlie
smokin joe 31 #3 Posted August 28, 2010 Im with charlie on the price!!The 753 seems to be a more common model around here.Shoot him the offer and see if it works!!
wheel horse 1045 2 #4 Posted August 28, 2010 i would try for $50 and let him take the next step of raising it and i would point out how ruff it is and it may not be worth much, just my 2 cents
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #5 Posted August 28, 2010 If the current owner has internet access, you might be screwed. I don't know how many times I've heard "there was one on eBay (or Craigslist) for $XXX" The numbers mentioned in the above replies are definitely "in the ball park". All I can add is I hope you do get it and that it's as cheap as possible. :wh:
rmaynard 16,299 #6 Posted August 28, 2010 Dittos to the above answers. I would say that $100 is a good price. Here is what I would do. Go with $150 in your pocket. Offer him $75. If he balks, offer $100, but be prepared to pay more. As TT said, most people have internet access and can do the same thing you are doing. Remember, the value of a Wheel Horse tractor is entirely dependent upon the moods of the buyer and seller at the time of the transaction. Bob
rueger-99 0 #7 Posted August 28, 2010 I'd offer up a Six Pack of his favorite Beer, $50 and he can keep the light. Bring an extra six pack if he balks at your intial offer....Feed him booze until he exepts your offer, decides you can have it for free, or he pays you to haul it off his property.. racinfool40 203 #8 Posted August 28, 2010 I agree with all of the above post. Start low It's been sitting in a barn for this long and has not cost him anything. your gonna give it a good home and do something good with it. :)
linen beige 15 #9 Posted August 29, 2010 Hmmmm. You say the current owner found this in a barn on some property he just got and was wondering if you may want it. I kinda agree with the $100-$150 price range, BUT, there is something else to consider. It has no deck on it, which may mean it was not used for mowing. There is a work light mounted on it, which indicates it was used for some type of work in low light. It was inside a barn, which indicates it is a good sized piece of property. These hints make me think that there are some attachments for this tractor inside (or close to) this barn. I would make any offers for it on the condition that the price includes EVERYTHING you can find laying around the site that goes with it. Who knows. You may come home with nothing more than a rusted out mowing deck or you just might get a great deal on a full package.
