Perfect replacement is a pull start magnito ignition Kohler K181. It will bolt right in and all ou need to fab would be the gas tank set-up.

I'd have to agree, Kohler is the way to go.... K161 or K181.

When I had the k181 on my 63 ranger, even with the short air filter it hit the hood just a little bit, but wasn't enough to worry bout really. Kinda wish I kept it, need a motor for the 67 ranger now.... :)

I have a K181 on my '63 Ranger and to be honest I think its overpowered.

Granted I dont work this tractor hard, mainly its pulling a cart or a lawn sweeper around, but it'll wheelstand all day long if I 'm just a little harsh with the clutch.

I think eventually it'll get the engine on the left of this picture (the engine on the right is an H60).

Its a brand new LH195 Tecumseh that I have sitting here and I'll use the Kohler on a bigger tractor

My winter "snow duty" lineup hasnt been finalised yet, but I may try out the Ranger with a blade, so probably the engine swap wont happen till after that

After plowing with a K181, you prob. won't take it off. You'll push anything in your way. (providing you can get the traction) :)
