Hi Folks,

I have just bought a brand new 14 Hp K321 short block NOS, and have a 12HP K301 as a donor, will the head/flywheel/oil drain pan (sump?) etc.. fit ok, or do I need to look for a 14hp donor engine?

I wanted to ask before I tear my K301 apart, and find the parts dont fit.

I got the short block from a Kohler dealer for

As long as the bottom of the block has the same pan mount yes the pan will fit, as will the head, the heads fit from 10, 12and 14hp engines, all the tin should fit as well, even the carb will work, it will be the smaller carb. no 26 but many 14hp use that carb. some have the larger no. 30 but not really needed.

Does it have the right size crank shaft? if it is 1 1/8" your all set, but if it is 1" you will need the PTO sleeve from a 8hp engine to mount the pto on, and a drive pulley from the same, but if you have a hydro, and the crank is 1" you will have a hard time finding the correct drive pulley they made them but are not common, only used on briggs powered hydro tractors, called work horse's
