Never seen a single cyl. 17hp Kohler???? most singles will run $500 to 700 for a nice rebuild, twins a bit more, and that is if your block and crank, are good, the twins can have jug problems and can cost more.

Rustynut, just like Kelly said around 500 dollars depending on what is done. That is usually about the same amount for 12hp thru 16hp singles. Twins are a whole different ball game. See Ya, Bye

Depending on how much you would be willing to do yourself and if you are going to use Kohler parts or not..... Kelly is right on. If you feild strip it and put it back together you will be closer around $500, have a machine shop do most if not all the work closer to $700.

Valve job with guide replacement, a bore and hone will run on average $100-150. Kohler piston, rod, guides, valves, gasket kit, carb kit.... bla, bla, bla.... will run you about $300. Don't forget to add final nuts, bolts, brush paints and other pooooo.

I have found going with "Stens" parts is not all that much cheaper. IMO if you are planning on keeping and using the motor, go with Kohler parts. Good Luck.

its gonna be rebui;t all by me if i go buy it... just wanderin... and im prob. not goin to buy kohler parts my dad knows of some good off brand stuff that hes used... and is still runnin.... i have a honor..
