rmaynard 14,933 #1 Posted August 6, 2010 I looked at the following horses today. I am picking up the 856, the deck, and snowblade on Monday for a restore project, or for resale. The 208-4 I will pick up if someone wants to buy it. I don't have time to start a restoration on the 856 until fall, so I may just sell it as well. I would like some input. If someone is interested in buying them, I will entertain offers on both. The 856 has decent sheet metal, and the owner says the engine runs good. He says that the transmission is stuck. Comes with a snow blade and a deck. Deck looks like it was modified to turn a rear discharge into a side discharge. The 208-4 has a deck and same air in the tires. Sparky-(Admin) 19,655 #3 Posted August 6, 2010 Grab the 856 and leave the 208 there for someone else. I cant imagine theres any profit to be made in the 208 especially if you have to put any $$ into it. Heck, it looks like it needs a tube in the rear tire which means its totalled . Mike......... rmaynard 14,933 #4 Posted August 6, 2010 My thoughts exactly. I don't think that there are enough interchangeable parts to make it worth my time loading on the trailer. The 856 on the other hand looks pretty good. Bob

wh500special 2,055 #10 Posted August 8, 2010 You guys are ruthless . Turning your backs on a blind orphan...(no headlights on the 208). While the collector market for vertical shaft 200-series "L-chassis" tractors consists of precisely one guy -yours truely - they are far better lawn mowers than old clunkers like that 856. No contest. Of course, even I don't buy verts for resale. Steve

rmaynard 14,933 #12 Posted August 8, 2010 You guys are ruthless . Turning your backs on a blind orphan...(no headlights on the 208). Now you're making me feel sorry for the poor old horse. Maybe I ought to go ahead a buy it so that it's not left all alone with those Craftsman and Murray's. ...then again...maybe NOT Bob
