stoneman 10 #1 Posted August 1, 2010 Did a landscape renovation for an 83 year old lady last week. The neighbor across the street asked us if we'd do a mulch job for them and, of course, we did. Turns out the customer, about 70 years old or so, had inherited a wheel horse from his father back in 1984. I told him I had started a small collection, and if he ever wanted to sell it to let me know. Then his wife asked me to make a stone for one of their gardens. They have a lot of old stones in their landscape, and I got to thinking later on that I might be able to work out a trade with them on the wh. So yesterday I went to deliver the stone they ordered, and took along a stone bird bath that I had in stock. Now the bird bath is in their garden, and the 82 B-85 is at my shop. His dad bought it 5-15-82, and I reckon he started greasing it later on that day. I've degreased and pressure washed it 4 times today, and still can't get some of the crusty old grease off, but wow, it's in good shape under all that stuff. Got the owners manual for the tractor and the deck, and the original bill of sale. 1350.00 was what he paid, less 350.00 for a trade. It's missing the cover on the front of the steering tower, the spindle covers, and ;the discharge chute. Here it is. peace . . . scott

sorekiwi 761 #3 Posted August 1, 2010 Wow, that thing really is nice Scott! You dont find too many that are not going "pinky". Nice birdbath too. I like the stone look as oppossed to the concrete manufactured alternative.

Sparky-(Admin) 23,166 #7 Posted August 1, 2010 Never been a big fan of the verticle engined Wheel Horse's but that one changed my mind. Talk about clean and unmolested. Good score! Mike......
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #8 Posted August 1, 2010 I'm not usually a fan of the vertical shaft models but that's a very nice exception. Good Luck!!

stoneman 10 #11 Posted August 2, 2010 Hey thanks for the comments. The thing is . . . see, I didn't really want it. I had no idea it would clean up so well. And now it's starting to look good to me too. A friend of mine stopped over yesterday and offered 400.00 for it. I told him I'd let him know . . . and I'm actually a little worried that he won't take good care of it. It had only been used 2 seasons when the guy I got it from inherited it, and since then has been used very sparingly. Now, here's the other thing. I have 6 's now . . . all 8 horse except for the work horse 700 which I am yet to find an H70 for. From there I go straight to 73 horse. (Bobcat 863) I need something 14 or more because I want to buy that 4 wheel wagon (see the link in "4 wheel wagon" post), and they recommend 12 horse or more. My first choice would be a nice GT 14 with a 3 point and a nice 42" rd deck. Or even a 48" if it's rd. I just found out about 3 that were available last December, and only 45 minutes from me, but I have to follow up and then see if any of them are still available and what they look like. I'll do that this week. Second would be a C-160, or no name C series 14. I'm open to any trade offers. If you have something that you think would work for me, let me know and we'll see if we can work some magic. I have lots of other stuff to trade. peace . . . scott
