SAM58 30 #1 Posted July 28, 2010 I HAVE A 1985 MODEL 42" SD DECK, MY MIDDLE SPINDLE BEARINGS ARE OUT. THE BEARINGS ARE SEALED ON ONE SIDE. HAS ANYONE EVER TRIED TO USE THE BEARING THAT ARE SEALED BOTH SIDES? WOULD THIS WORK? ARE FAR AS LUBRICATION, THERE WAS NO GREASE GETTING UP TO THE TOP BEARING ANYWAY... THE PRELUBED BEARING MAY NOT LAST AS LONG, BUT I CAN GET THE FOR A BUCK A PIECE. WHAT DO YOU 'ALL THINK??? :D
Butch 194 #2 Posted July 28, 2010 Sam the seal is out for when you grease the fitting the grease will get into the ball bearings. The seal is easily popped out. Butch S. Jersey
Don1977 604 #3 Posted July 28, 2010 They will work. You can also take out the seal on that side. I use 6203-2RS bearings and remove the seal.
SAM58 30 #4 Posted July 28, 2010 That is the same part number of the bearings I have. A freind of mine works for Republic Diesel, and can buy at cost. so i have 12 of these.... You recommend taking the seal out of one side? Also, how much grease should one put back in the spindle before installing into deck? Update.... Poped out seal on one side of the bearings, put it back together... Works Great. thanks Butch! :D
