C-175 Automatic blown hydraulic line

Recommended Posts

Guess I'm about to learn about hydraulics. I blew an oil line so I'm assuming it's a hydraulic line. I don't know if you replace them or have them repaired. Are they something that's a stock item or are they custom made? How many are there? But I'll replace all of them if there are multiple ones unless they look new.

All over the garage floor and driveway!!! :banghead::wh:

I was backing it out of it's cushy garage to put on the final new tire and wheel for shows only.

I haven't even had a chance to trouble shoot or even try to tell which line it is. :omg: My concern was getting as much detergent, suds and water on the tractor as I could not knowing what kind of oil I was looking at. Didn't wanna chance this oil would remove the paint. I was as busy as a one arm paper hanger.

Before any pics or trouble shooting I have a mess to clean up. When it rains it pours!! :D

One hour after the disaster things are drying out. All new tires and wheels are on except the front left. (Driver side? ) The rear are 8.5 inch wide wheels bought off Ebay from a guy in Florida who still sells them in this color for around $90 a pair. The offset is good which he said they would be. SteveBo was worried about that. The front wheels were obtained in a swap with CT's DocWH. The bottom pic is how they looked when I got them and now the front right tire in the pic (passenger side? :D ) is what they look like now.

I must have a fetish when it comes to wheels and tires 'cause I love looking at them!! :D

that rear takes 5qt 10W30, so thats the oil that is everywhere, when you repair the line, drain and refill the rear, the filter only has as many hours on it as are in the meter, as I was the one who last changed it.

Good luck hydro WH's are a mess to change the oil in compared to 8spd, but they are easy

rears look awesome!!!

I took a ruptured line to NAPA and they duplicated it perfectly. I am not a know it all but I accedently knocked the filter loose enough to leak changing the rear tire. Just a thought. Good luck. I had oil all over my floor from a ruptured line going from the filter intake back to the pump. Was not fun to change.

I hope Rick or someone explains the method for getting the fittings loose. I can't remember the name for them but I remember loosing the pressure nut then the fitting.

Butch,

The hydro lines and cylinder are behind the left side kick panel. You can follow them from there. I would replace all of them while you are doing it.

How many lines are on the C175? I have the left floorboard off and see 3 of them. I might as well pull the lift cylinder out and overhaul that and yank the control valve and see if it can be overhauled. I like to know that things will work and how old things are.

Can someone display a drawing o photo and circle what I should overhaul or replace?

Any ideas or thoughts?
