SAM58 30 #1 Posted July 23, 2010 Photobucket Picked up another Horse yesterday, I think it is a 1985 model? This is one that Toro does not offer a Manual or Parts list for. Previous owner said it was purchased in the early 80's. Anyone have a manual, Parts list for this model? thanks http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz35/pe...sd/IMG_0537.jpg
rickv1957 70 #4 Posted July 23, 2010 Tractor looks pretty good,I would say an 85 model is close as tractor has the K series engine, good find!,Rick
SAM58 30 #5 Posted July 23, 2010 I have had my eye on it for about a year, guy wouldn't price it so i offered him 400.00, came back with 600.00 so i bought it, engine runs great no smoke. 42 in deck is what i really wanted but the tractor is in great shape considering it has not had much maintainace. Nothing has been changed except the oil. Middle spindle is noisy, two outside are tight. Looks alot better after 30 minutes with a pressure washer. I needed it like a hole in the head, small yard, wife said " what do you need another lawn mower for?" Honey... they are WheelHores... thanks
bmuone 15 #6 Posted July 23, 2010 Good looking tractor Sam58. I have a operators manual that has some info on that series tractor. It has some 30 pages on series 200, 300 and 400 tractors. I think I can email it to you if you want.

shallowwatersailor 3,213 #10 Posted July 23, 2010 I like the cup holder . Wheel Horses are addictive. I have one - but by Monday could have three more! That is unless the Boss has her way. I can't sneak them into the basement like my other hobby. John
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,059 #11 Posted July 23, 2010 You will love that machine !! Very powerful with lots of torque. My 416-8 single kohler was one of the best machines I ever owned !!
SAM58 30 #12 Posted July 24, 2010 :D Yes, I have enjoyed my 12 HP Raider, this 416-8 has more muscle. Came with Goodyear AG's , pulled tree roots out last night, dug a few holes, tore up some grass... I have a lot of things to check on it, changed the oil, trans. fluids, adjusted carb. clutch is catching on top, brake on bottom. Both need adjusted runs great! Question... Is it normal for the Kohler single cyl to back fire sometimes when you drop the throttle back to an idle?? I noticed late night that the muffler has a small crack in the back side, could this be part of the back fire?
JoeMonag 1 #13 Posted July 25, 2010 Sam, if you get me the model number, off the seat area, I can tell you the year. I just got a 416-8, like yours in March, but it is an '86. I had to have the muffler welded, as I dam near blew it off from back firing. After adjusting the govn. linkage, the throttle linkage, rebuilding the carb and adjsuting it, I have almost eliminted the back firing. I have learned to lower the throttle , slowly to all but eliminate back firing. You can reach me at: JoeMonag@aol.com You will enjoy the 416, I found the 4 series is a little more rugged than the 3 series. I also have a 310-8. SAM58 30 #14 Posted July 25, 2010 My 416-8 has the serial tag just in front of the seat. It is now mostly rubbed or fadded away. Here's what I came up with... 31-16K001 10243 could be... 31-16K801 10243 have the orginal 42" deck with it. 0548M604 53895
JoeMonag 1 #15 Posted July 25, 2010 Sam, I think your number should be: 31-16K 801. it comes up as a 1985 416-8, with a single cyl, K341S -71371 engine. Good luck with your new toy. Joe in Norton
