Fuzzyphi 0 #1 Posted July 10, 2010 I have a C-81 that has recently stopped working properly. It only runs at idle. When I start it up cold I can go full throttle and it will rev for a second before backing down to idle. After it's warmed up it stays at idle, no matter what I do with the throttle. The throttle cable is working. I have adjusted the governor per the manual. Any suggestions? I assume it's a governor problem, but I don't really know much. I'm still learning the tractor. Thanks for the help in advance. -Cory
rmaynard 15,964 #2 Posted July 10, 2010 When you adjust your throttle, is the throttle shaft on the carburetor rotating? Is the linkage between the governor arm and the throttle shaft connected? Bob
rickv1957 73 #3 Posted July 10, 2010 Sounds like something has come loose on governor, maybe the large nut that holds the throttle cable bracket,Rick
Fuzzyphi 0 #4 Posted July 11, 2010 When you adjust your throttle, is the throttle shaft on the carburetor rotating? Is the linkage between the governor arm and the throttle shaft connected? Bob The throttle moves fine when the tractor is turned off. Move the throttle and it moves on the carb.

jimt1971 237 #6 Posted July 11, 2010 How old are the fuel lines. With the newer fuels the lines are colasping inside. So they will look good on the outside but will be clogged inside. Jim

Jim The fuel lines are all less than a year old. I can manually rev the engine by moving the lever on the carb.

Fuzzyphi 0 #10 Posted July 11, 2010 Hopefully this works. I've tried to post a link to a video of my governor/carb. Sorry about the low quality. WH Governor Video
