Butch 194 #1 Posted July 10, 2010 Hi, First I wanna say I wasn't sure where to post this. You guys can move it to where ever you think it belongs. Now does anyone use ramps to load their WH tractor into a bed of their pickup truck with the deck attached? The bed of my F-250 is kinda high and was wondering are there ramps out there that would allow for this. In the past I thought the decks would bottom out. But some of the ramps today are arched to help with this problem. Since my deck will fit between the wheel wells I'd like to leave the deck attached to the tractor if there are ramps that will work. The higher the truck the steeper the climb and the more likely hood the deck may hit or bottom out. Anyone know of ramps that will work or have any experience getting a tractor w/deck into the bed of a pickup? Thanks. Butch S. Jersey

Butch 194 #5 Posted July 10, 2010 Butch,I always borrow my sons ramps,he bought them for his ATV,Will ask him the brand,Rick Thanks. I have looked at a lot of them online. I think it was Northern tool who had a great selection. It looked like some of the arches were more pronounced than others plus length would make a difference. What did you load your tractor into? I do find it kinda odd that someone with over 50 tractors DOESN'T OWN A SET OF RAMPS!! Butch
whfan74 2,072 #6 Posted July 10, 2010 Butch, I always back up to a slight incline to help lower the incline of the ramps. Usually use dad's set that he purchased from the Home Depot rental shop as they were upgrading to newer one's.

whfan74 2,072 #8 Posted July 10, 2010 I would suggest the arching ramps that you can find at Lowes, TSC, Home Depot.......etc. Make sure you get some with the safety straps that attach to the back bumper.
stevasaurus 23,281 #9 Posted July 10, 2010 Butch...Fireman had a set of the arched ramps. He got them from TSC said they were around $100.00, if I remember right. We used them to get that RJ out of the back of my truck. He said they worked great because of the arch for decks on horses. Shoot him a PM if he doesn't see this thread. How big of a truck did you have? I'm online now looking at the different ramps. I guess if they're arched then they should work. I know the higher the truck the steeper the drive up so I would like to go with longer ramps also. I have seen some that are 7.5' and 8' long. Of course if I win the raffle tractor next year I have a problem getting both home! But if it's as hot next year as it was this year and they call my name I'll probably tell them it's too hot to leave the shade and to pull another ticket!! Butch S. Jim_M 179 #11 Posted July 10, 2010 I've got a set of arched rams that I bought from TSC a few years ago, they're 7 feet long. I've never had a problem loading a tractor with a deck into the back of my 3/4 ton Dodge.
JoeMonag 1 #12 Posted July 10, 2010 We have a set of 8' Pressured Treated "2X12"s with the metal ends we bought from Northern Tool at our shop. I used them to load a 416-8 with a 48" deck in March into our shop 2007 F-250. They work great, as long as you are not afraid of heights,LOL. stevasaurus 23,281 #13 Posted July 10, 2010 I just have a 1/2 ton GMC..and we used Jeff's ramps from my tailgate onto my trailer, and I had my ramps from the trailer to the ground. Not steep at all. You may need a trailer next year. From what I understand, if I get to go again, I get to pull the ticket. That means you have to be nice to me. Tell you what...if I pull your name, I'll walk the ticket over to you so you do not have to get up. :D

Joe in Norton Joe I have one of the metal ends with a ramp from my motorcycle days. Problem is it's been laying on the ground and I DIDN'T use pressure treated lumber! I want to take the ramps with me so they have to be fold-able and I only have a 7' bed. Thanks Butch S. Jersey

What do you mean if you get to go again? I thought your wife liked that romantic getaway life changing experience? My wife might even go now after her trip up to CT and seeing Kens RJs. She thought those little things were cute. Maybe there's a RJ in my future! Maybe I can convince her an 856 is actually the father of an RJ so I can get an 856!! Butch S. stevasaurus 23,281 #17 Posted July 10, 2010 Did you here that Butch is working all side for a new RJ...If he buys the ramps, then he has to get the RJ because he has the ramps. Yea...that's the ticket.

refracman 167 #24 Posted July 10, 2010 I have a set of the 7 1/2" arched aluminum hinged ramps. And they did work loading with the deck on in my 86 4x4 f250 they did not work with my 05 2500hd chevy 2wd. It sat about maybe 3-4" higher.
gwgdog66 23 #25 Posted July 10, 2010 I have a set of the black steel ones Home depot sells. Some of the newer decks don't raise as high as some of the old ones. If your gage wheels still touch the ground with the deck up, make sure the gage wheels will roll on the ramp when you load up and you should be ok.
