Indy w h 5 #1 Posted July 1, 2010 Alrighty my fellow WHers as you know I've acquired a 603 a while back. Well thanks to a few good friends they found me a gas tank at the big show!! (you know who you are AND THANKS AGAIN !!!!!!. Well I took off the front tires and to my surprise they have 2 piece valve stems. So my question is how many horses have these?? And was this an option for fluid in the tires?? All info is greatly appreciated !!! Oh yeah I about forgot about another GOOD buddy of mine who out of the goodness of his heart gave me 1 set of BF Goodrich 6-12 turf tires and 2 sets of 6-12 ags that just happened to have the 2 piece valve stems on them !!! ( you know who you are !!! And THANKS AGAIN !!!! Indy I'll post some pics if you have never seen these style of tubes!!

Kelly 1,033 #3 Posted July 3, 2010 I have a number of tractors mostly 60's that have them i figured it was for fluid filling but not sure??
stevasaurus 23,274 #4 Posted July 3, 2010 Indy...the pictures I took of those stems is blurry...I had wrong setting on camera. sorry about that. My feeling is ...it is a design idea to keep the valve stem from slipping or shifting inside the tire and thus keeping the stem in place.
Audioshot 2 #5 Posted July 3, 2010 Some AG rims used water valves for calcium or anti freeze solutions to add ballast to the tire/wheel assemblies. The valve in the photo you posted is not a water valve but looks like a TR501 commercial valve (hard to tell with that photo). You can still put water in them. You need those valves if you have a steel wheel with a .625 hole. If you have the tire off the wheel, it's best practice to replace them as the rubber grommets harden over time. They are not expensive.
Audioshot 2 #6 Posted July 3, 2010 If you remove the valve from the wheel and take another photo (hold camera a tad further away) and I can tell you exactly what valve and purpose it has. It's hard to tell from that photo. Can you remove the schrader bushing to revel a larger fill hole on the stem? If so, and it has the brass nut, then you do in fact have the air/water TR618A (or B ) valve.
linen beige 15 #7 Posted July 4, 2010 It's hard to tell from the fuzzy pic, but I think both my 400s and my RJ-58 all have that type valves on all four rims.
