HankB 16 #2 Posted June 25, 2010 hello all, i've just bought a 257-H in very great shape. just wondering what you guys think of that model... I love it! it's my first horse and i'm looking to buy a few more!! Doesn't matter what we think. What matters is what you think Congrats on your first Wheelhorse! If you're looking for info, enter 257-H at https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?...es&xCaller=Toro for product name and search. Poke around for what you can find. Yours is a vertical shaft engine tractor built with a stamped frame. (I'd be inclined to call it a tub frame, but I might be the only one. ) These are generally not as robust as the horizontal shaft tractors that generally have a sturdier frame. Some refer to them as lawn tractors vs. garden tractors which pretty much identifies their intended use. My first Wheelhorse was a vertical shaft model as well - a Charger V8. I mowed and plowed snow with it for years and it met my needs. Interestingly, the Charger V8 and your 257-H both use the Eaton 700 transmission. I guess that must have worked well since they used it for so long. At the moment I'm restoring a A-80-E which has a vertical shaft/tub frame and have a B-81 which is also vertical shaft/tub frame. and the world of Wheelhorse!
