Purchasing advice

Recommended Posts

Forest Road

I'm shopping for a 520H or a newer twin cylinder hydro unit. And a dual stage snow blower to go with it. Does anyone have any advice as to what to look for in the hydro drives? Good bad or ugly.

I don't plan to find one next week. But this is a long term search. Was there a series of motors which wer bad. A certain hydro drive unit that was undesirable?

Thanks in advance.

Let the hydro warm up a bit and drive it around.........then find a hill or put it up against a immovable object and see if she still has power. If it bogs going up a hill.........you might have some problems. Some guys put it against a wall and see if they can spin the tires.

It is a good tractor..........some love the Onan's and other's not so much. You will find that with just about any manufacture. Depends on what you are needing. That tractor will do everything and more...........you will be pleased.

Wow!!!

Thanks for the feed back! Well like I said I'm taking my time on this one. And although I'm sure its a great machine $2500 is way beyond my current budget. Right now I have two 312-8s w/ a single stage blower and plow. Both have chains and weights. So I'm currently in good shape. That 520 is basically a dream which I hope to more or less trip over in the not to distant future. But alas I really need some side work to replenish the slush fund!

I have not had time to get pictures as I had my daughters graduation today, and we are now headed to some grad parties. I did not have plans to attend but someone decided different for me. :D

I will get the pictures, and i do like the 520's
