year of engine

:thumbs: :D:D:thanks: Hi I have a 1075 looking to find out the year of engine the s/n# has a rip in tag I do not think I can see a letter before the numbers,and the manual only goes back to 1965. what did they use in 64/and back letters or #`s...... t/u for your interest Gary B.....

I just went out and checked my 1075 and the tag is gone also, what is it you need to know

Somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

But 65 was the first year for a letter code(A)

#s 65548-127160=8/63 through 8/65

#s 501-65547=1960 through 8/63

:thumbs: :D:D:thanks::wh::beer: I guess I have to be more specific I am looking to see if this is the first year of the 10hp witch is 1964. Or is it a 1965 10hp and how did they label the s/n in 1964 to tell what year the engine was.as I said I can not see with a magnifying glass any letters. T/u for your interest. Gary B....

The simple answer to your question is... Kohler started using letter prefixes in 1965, so anything earlier will be just numbers.
