rmaynard 16,301 #3 Posted June 24, 2010 The easiest way is to go to somewhere like Small Engine Parts Warehouse and look up the part you need. Then you can click on the part number (which in most cases will be the original number) and it will tell you whether it is unavailable, still available, and if the number has changed it will give you the new number. As far as I know, there is no cross-reference. Bob
bewford 21 #4 Posted June 24, 2010 not currently looking for anything specfic. just always browsing thru stuff for sale, the problem i have is if somebody list an NOS part they list it with the part number that is on the part, and lets say it a 1977 part and i wanna know if it is the superseded part number for a 1972 part number. i trying to find what part numbers that superseded from (previous years) and superseded to (later years). all i seen to find are the original part number, and the current toro consumer PN. DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE TO ANYBODY?????????????????????????? Please if it does
CasualObserver 3,411 #5 Posted June 24, 2010 Let's see if this picture helps a little bit. You have to remember that not all the part changes are going to be in the computer for every manufacturer. Things have come a long way in the last 30 years, but they're not perfect. When you use the link above, enter the parts look-up tool. Then use these steps. For my example, I used an old blade kit for the 32" gear drive decks. The original parts for these were individual left and right hand blades, that were later incorporated into a kit. 1. Choose the "Parts" tab 2. Choose "Toro Consumer" from the drop down list 3. Select "Begins with" 4. Enter the part number you're looking at. (sometimes you have to enter it in the Description box... like in this example, if you enter the current # 53322 in the number box, you will get zero results, however if you enter it in the description box, you'll get to this same place. This is probably because the database used for this application is older than the current part number, and they can't/haven't/won't enter the newest records. This part look up tool is actually becoming obsolete, there is a new version that most online shops are using, and it isn't nearly as easy to navigate this type of information in my opinion.) 5. Click search 6. Select a part from the list of results 7. Click the arrow (left arrows show where a part came from, right arrows show where then went as far as supercession goes) and a new window should pop up and show the other part numbers associated with the one you're looking at. Hope that helps. By the way.... the only other way to "cross-ref" them is to get a dealer's part index/price list. Sometimes kind of a handy book to have around. Most dealers aren't too keen on giving away their old ones though. They usually have notes and stuff in them that they want to keep for their reference.
