JUSS10 250 #1 Posted June 24, 2010 so just got another tractor and it has the k181 in it. it sat for a while so i cleaned the tank, petcock, fuel lines, carb, etc. well hooked it all back up and started to crank the motor to see if i was getting fuel on the out side of the pump. no luck, just drips. so i thought maybe it had a bad diaphram or something. so i pull it off and something just doesn't look right. well there is no arm on it. first off, though i'm pretty sure it should, does this fuel pump on the 181 have a arm that is cam driven? and if so, can i only assume it came off and fell in the bottom of the motor?! everything cranks fine, not like there was any binding. some input would be great. thanks Justin
Sparky-(Admin) 23,199 #2 Posted June 24, 2010 This topic comes up often. The "arm" isnt broke off, you have a vacuum pump( I think thats the correct term) which does not have the cam driven arm. Mike.......
JUSS10 250 #3 Posted June 24, 2010 thanks so much. did a search but didn't find anything. so can i check to see if will pump without a carb hooked up or is there still something wrong if nothing comes out?
JUSS10 250 #4 Posted June 24, 2010 just want to verify that this pump could be a vacuum one. here is a picture
JUSS10 250 #5 Posted June 24, 2010 ok verified it was a fuel pump issue. took the pump off my other 8 horse and am now getting fuel in the bowl. are there rebuild kits for these pumps or do i need to hunt down a new one? thanks Justin
