rustynut 4 #1 Posted June 23, 2010 i was mowin the yard today and i mowed about a 1/4 of it and the raider started to die so i pulled the choke out and it ran for a few then died. so i topok the air cleaner off and cleaned it/blowed it off then i went back out there to put it on. so i put it on start it up and it runs fine? . so i started mowin again then bout 5 min later or so it did the same thing so i drove it up to the barn and was pissed so i havent touched it yet . ???? i think it might need a carb rebiuld and a fuel pump rebiuld what do you guys think
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted June 23, 2010 Is the gas cap vent open? Did you pull the line off and check for gas flow?
rustynut 4 #3 Posted June 23, 2010 it has gas flow and the fuel pump puches fuel??
rusted and busted 0 #4 Posted June 23, 2010 sounds like a good ole case of vaporlock to me,next time you get it hot and it die's on you,try to prime it directly and see if it will start...or you have a big chunk of gunk in fuel line shutting of fuel flow temperarly...suction pics it up till looses suction then fuel will flow again. rustynut 4 #5 Posted June 23, 2010 what yea mean prime it directly
rusted and busted 0 #6 Posted June 23, 2010 squirt a little gas right into the intake on carburetor and see if it will start,if it doesn't try to start, then the coil or condenser is going bad.
rmaynard 16,299 #7 Posted June 23, 2010 I'm more inclined to agree with TT on the gas cap theory. Had it happen to me more than once. Bob
