I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist for the last month looking for a 42" deck. Well....Today I found one locally from a New C165 owner that just wanted to pull the grandkids around in a wagon with. It's in beautiful shape , but doesn't cut worth $H!t! Can you guys help me out?

I did that one time on my 37" SD -- And it STILL CUT GRASS -- It was a little bit worse because I started trying to figure out why it didn't look as clean -- But the grass was still cut -- But then that is kinda of analogous to the people who never sharpen their blades -- You get something spinning fast enough under there and the grass get cut off

I tried that once. Bought brand new blades and wasn't paying attention and mounted them backwards. Never made it out of the shop. They were dragging on the concrete.

Looks like the deck turned up side down and the blades forgot to follow. Sorry couldn't resist.

Kinda like we all have been there. Did the same thing a few years back. Boy did I feel stupid.

I have always wondered though why a dull blade won't cut as good as a weed eater.

The difference between a mower deck and a weedeater is the speed of the blade, slow the weadeater down and watch it just beat the grass/weeds to death...

That deck is in beautiful shape. What did you spray underneath? Looks shiny.

It's just wet from when I cleaned it up. I think after this season I'll wire wheel the bottom and put a coat of POR-15 on it.

My best friend, God love him, is about as mechanically inclined as a turnip by his own admission. I sharpen his blades for him. The only way he can remember which way to bolt them back onto the deck (he is capable of doing that much himself!) is to write on them with a big Magic Marker - "GROUND SIDE" and "TRACTOR SIDE"!

I used to LMAO about this until I bought a set of new blades recently that had factory-stamped in the steel, "Ground Side". Hmmmmmmm.......
