esheufelt 0 #1 Posted June 20, 2010 Folks, Just bought a 520 and am going through it. The idler wheel that tensions the PTO drive belt has no bearing left. That's where the nasty squeal came from i bet. This is the one behind the cover by your right foot. It's model 73501, sn 3902284 It doesn't look like i can just replace the bearing but i can't find the part in any of the part lists. Any ideas? Eddie
rmaynard 14,932 #2 Posted June 20, 2010  If you are referring to the clutch belt idler, the part number is 112791. It is available from Toro and others for about $50.00 Bob
esheufelt 0 #3 Posted June 21, 2010 Thanks, That could be the right part, the linkage in the assembly drawing is different in the 73502 though. I can't find the part in any section of the model 73501. Do all these models use the same idler. This on is 4 1/2 inch diameter, it's a bit smaller than the idler on the mower deck. TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #4 Posted June 21, 2010 This might ease your mind: Link to IPL (Look for item #43. ) Apparently they haven't become available in the aftermarket yet.
esheufelt 0 #5 Posted June 21, 2010 Yep, that's it. Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. Eddie
HankB 16 #6 Posted June 21, 2010 Apparently they haven't become available in the aftermarket yet. I can find similar looking idlers at both Napa and Tractor Supply web sites for considerably less. I wonder if any of those would work.

HankB 16 #8 Posted June 21, 2010 Post a link and let's have a look at what you found. Go to Tractor Supply Corp and search for "idler pulley" http://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp/wcs/st...=&ip_perPage=20 Go to napaonline.com and do a similar search. One I found was http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.as...9830_0120188877 Here's more: http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Results.a...Keyword&N=25067 (If that search doesn't work, just try a search for "flat idler pulley") But... This may be a situation like the belts. It seems that the WH belts are built to a pretty demanding spec and after market belts may not be as durable. It would surprise me if a $10 Napa pulley would be made to the same spec as a $50 WH part.
