1. Remove the belt from the Deck and PTO ends.

2. There is a rod ("Lock Release Pin", normally with a rubber cap on it) on the right side of the Atach-A-Matic. Push and hold that in. If it won't move, pull the rubber cap off and give it a few taps with a hammer. PB Blaster would help too at the contact points.

3. Pull the Lever under the Atach-A-Matic (Front Hitch) forward, to detach the Mule Drive from the tractor.

The problem is that the mule drive is probably rusted. The first thing that you have to do is get the big black knob to unscrew to loosen the drive. Then the locking shaft on the tach-a-matic needs to be pushed towards the PTO side. Then the locking shaft need to be pulled forward. It too is probably rusted.

However, you can do none of the above until the black knob has been loosened.

Soak it with lots of PB Blaster.

Hope this helps.

Bob

The whole thing is held on to the tractor frame with three bolts and an Eclipi. I went through that problem on my C-165! I cut the old belt and went from there. The adjustment Knob shaft was rusted so bad it was welded to little screw. That is how i took it of :D
