c-120 not turning over - selinoid ?

i just picked up a mid 70's c-120 ,it started and ran great until i pulled it up and put a new deck drive belt on . when i was finished i hopped on , turned the key and i just got a few weak clicks from the selinoid. after a few tries all i got was a little sparking from the negitive battery cable , and then nothing.

is this a bad selinod or did the battery die on me ?

i had a battery charged but it wont turn on now so i cant check that way

Sounds like the loose connection at the neg battery terminal. Clean it up and tighten it up.

everything seemed tight , might need to be cleaned , its just wierd how it works then boom 10 minutes later its dead

Had the same problem with my B-100. Turned out to be a bad cable from the solenoid to the starter. Saw sparks at the cable end where it attached to the lug on the starter. If I lifted the cable while turning the key, it would start. Replaced the end on the cable and that fixed it.

what i really need to do is re-wire the whole machine . it would be nice to get the headlights working too

well it started this morning --- loose wire on the selinoid i believe its the keyswitch wire
