brider 0 #1 Posted June 10, 2010 I love driving a hydro, but now I'm torn between keeping my Charger 10 hydro or buying a C-125 8-sp. The Charger has a 38" side-discharge deck which I hate and won't use, and the C-125 has a 42" RD deck but 8-sp tranny. In order to keep the Charger, I'd have to find a RD deck. Never owned a WH with an 8-sp, I can't understand why WH ever offered 8-sp after introducing hydro drive earlier. Is there some reason people prefer the 8-sp over the hydro? rickv1957 74 #2 Posted June 10, 2010 You could buy the C 125,then you would have one of each, Rick
brider 0 #3 Posted June 10, 2010 You could buy the C 125,then you would have one of each ...says the man with 50+ tractors... Yeah, I'd love one of each, but the missus has a say in this...
Wheel Horse Fan 3 #4 Posted June 11, 2010 I've never driven a hydro yet, but I've always liked the 8-spd. I'm just a manual tranny guy. Every car I've owed has been a manual. Some say the 8-spd can take more abuse. I bought a hydro to mow the lawn and if that is all your doing then you may want to stick with the hydro. Go check out the C125 and test drive it see if you like it. If not maybe the guy will sell just the deck. Tell the wife you need a backup tractor in case the charger breaks. You wouldn't want the lawn to get to long now would you, what would the neighbors think. :D
brider 0 #5 Posted June 12, 2010 I drove the C-125 and LOVED it, but the parking brake wouldn't set, and the deck lift wouldn't hold "up". So I left and told the guy if he fixed those 2 things to call me. He called 1/2 hour after I got home, said they were both fixed. But then I got thinking; he wanted $600, seemed kinda high, and it only had 8.50 inch rear tires. My Charger 10 has 10.50, shouldn't a 12 hp have at least 10.50 tires? Sparky-(Admin) 23,157 #6 Posted June 12, 2010 Nope, the factory original rears on the C-125 AND your Charger were 23x8.50x12's. Those 10.50's are not original on your Charger although they probably look like they fit perfectly. Mike.......
PlowDayJunkie 3 #7 Posted June 12, 2010 brider where are you located? I would trade you a 312 hydro for your c-125 312 has 4 brand new tires, new battery last year, runs perfect, just has ugly paint due to bad factory primer back in the day. I do not need a deck so you could keep the deck. thanks Scott Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand)

Brider, The parking brake adjustment and the deck lift adjustment takes just a few minutes and a 9/16 wrench. Don't let that scare you away... Let us know what you do.
