going to call on a 603 tomorrow...

The description says it will fire off starter fluid so the carb is probably gummed up... This would be my second wheel horse... I got the 18 auto for work... this would be for fun / play... He's asking $175... so what do you think... good project machine?

I'll have to find about the engine... craigslist pics are too small to tell much of anything except that the engine is black :USA:

It has the most important part the steering wheel, it should not have fenders, the hood looks fixable to me, and the engine looks to be a new transplant, but could still be a H or HH60 I'd offer $150

thanks for the comments... I planned on trying to get him down on price... I was going to try to get to $125... unless someone puts firm next to the price I assume they have wiggle room... and as he is a bit off the beaten path all the more so... but I do need to go through his town on the way to pick up some rims and tires for my 8n...

Thanks... we're located in Southern Western New York... about 30 minutes from chautauqua lake...

going down tomorrow to deliver the 18 auto... Had to borrow a trailer as it's to big to fit in the back of the old ford ranger...

So today is my 10th wedding anniversary and my father-in-law decided to surprise me by showing up at work with this... I emailed him that I was going to call after work on it so it's my anniversary gift... don't know what he paid... not going to ask...

so it's in my driveway now...

but it's going to need some work

The drive clutch is missing the linkage (rod that goes from the pedal and the clutch arm that goes opposite of the pulley) ... so i'm going to need that...

The engine looks like it came off of a snow blower with electric start (plug in type)... I will probably get it going but will look for a more appropriate motor later... there's a hh60 on craigslist locally but they want $125... which is more then I'd want to spend...

the hood is pretty dinged up... one grill slat is missing... so I will probably look for a replacement but first I want to get the mechanics in order...

I'll have some pics when I get home...

Thought about calling about that 603 myself. I grew up on a 604 as shown in my avatar. We'll have to get a Wheel Horse in Central NY. some day. They had a bunch last year in Canandaigua at the Steam Pageant. :D

it is pretty ruff around the edges... I have some pics but need to get ready to go out to dinner or I'm in trouble...

my youngest daughter loves it... it's her size :D

I did play with it for a sec... got it running no problem... there's no air cleaner assembly (nothing in front of the carb) so it was getting way to much air... choked it by blocking the intake with my fingers and started right up.. so I need to find a air cleaner assembly... but can't find a model number on the engine...

the shifter pulled right out... took me a sec to figure that out... two sets of fingers... move to center for neutral and front and back set for each set of gears... oil is brown so that needs change but the gears looked good...

So I need the clutch parts if anyone has them... also the parking brakes parts... got nothing there... I'll create a wanted post latter

also a air cleaner assembly... I'll post a pic later... if anyone has one laying around...

then after that it will be the cosmetic things... I'll be tearing it right down and repainting it... and will post stuff as I go along...

Cool!!! Did you realize it has a speed reduction kit on it? :D:USA: The large input pulley on the trans and the extra idler linkage makes up the kit. There was also a different belt guard as part of the kit that will be difficult to find. Search for SR-64 for details. The kit made the trans a slower low range/more torque set up that was better for snow throwing and tilling.

I have some parts posted on ebay that should fit this from a Suburban. My seller name is same as screen name posted on here. Might be some stuff you can use. :D here is the item number off the clutch linkage. I believe she'd be a match. 120580479445

cool... we have the belt guard... just took it off for the truck ride as it was not bolted on... most likely the kids will eventually be using this... so slowing them down is a good thing...

So after hunting around today I found a small shop that went out of their way digging through the junk pile for a $3 part and a $3 air filter... installed it and the motor runs great...

I pulled the front wheels off and one of the wheel bushing was shot... I popped it out and tried to find one locally and nothing... I can swing out the the bearing place this week and I am betting they will have one... I checked the ipl and could not find a part number for the bushing... in case the local place does not have what i'm looking for does anyone know where to get them???

also as someone said I have a sr-64 installed can someone give me a part number on the belt... I have one but it is pretty old... also looking for the mower deck belts (all three) and could use part numbers...

I picked up some clutch parts off ebay that I am going to see if I can make work... once I get everything working I'll start cleaning everything up

also as someone said I have a sr-64 installed can someone give me a part number on the belt...

Part # 1586. "A" section, 76 inches long. May have been superceeded to part # 9714.

You might consider replacing the front wheel bushings with ball bearings. When the retaining washers are installed they can't be discerned from bushings and last much longer.

thanks... I'll check with the bearing place this week... the bushing failed from the c-clip wearing a 1/4 in hole in the end... lots of slop now...

oh and thanks for the part number... hopefully I'll have this moving by the end of the week then start cosmetics stuff...
