Andy L 0 #1 Posted June 8, 2010 I just installed a new B&S carb on my GT1142. It starts on choke and will run on high speed. When I throttle down, it stays running at high rpms. When I engage the PTO for the mower deck, it dies out. I did not touch any adjustments. What should I do next? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
dwayneGT 6 #2 Posted November 10, 2010 The initial setting is made by turning the needle valve (needle that comes in from bottom) all the way in and then backing it out 1 1/2 turns. With the engine running around 3000 rpm's, slowly turn the needle in until the engine starts to loose speed (lean) then slowly open the needle until the engine starts to run unevenly. this might seem to be too rich but it will be correct for good performance under load Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
