clintonnut 126 #1 Posted May 31, 2010 Oh no! Not another one!!!! Here's the basic story. It started out when we were leaving this guys place who had my 2 army trucks up in Nescopeck, PA (close to Ft. Indiantown Gap) and his neighbor had what looked like a wheel horse sitting next to his pole barn. It looked like a nut cooker of some sort so I figured if it was still sitting there when I came up for the other truck that I would stop in and ask if it is for sale. Well on Friday I did just that. We pulled in the owner's driveway and asked him if it was for sale. He said he thought about it and he wanted to restore it so his kids could ride it around but he knew that would never happen. We walked over to it and it turned out to be an all original 551 with the original H55D engine. He said it ran but not good. I made an offer of $75 and my dad immediately bumped that up saying "We can do better how about $100?!?!" The owner paused a couple seconds then said "Heck Yea!" Yesterday I got it running and all it needs is a carb rebuild. Here are the before cleanup pictures: After: Reminants of the serial tag Here's the haul: Fits right in!!! IT WILL BE FOR SALE AT THE SHOW MINUS THE BELT GUARD AND IT WILL HAVE TURFS ON THE BACK AND A NEW BATTERY!!!!! Charlie
