psjoe 1 #1 Posted May 27, 2010 I found a 1984 Work Horse GT-1100 for sale locally. The tractor is in excellent condition. My question is what can I expect out of the 11Hp B&S as far as longetivity and problems (if any)? Thanks
rick 246 #2 Posted May 28, 2010 I have had good luck with B&S engines, they are not as bad as some would have you believe. One of the problems with buying a used machine is the prior history. Has it been maintained properly, and not abused, etc. If I liked the machine and it sounded good and ran strong, I would buy it. Heck, I bought a rustic brown C111 that would barely run and shook like a wet dog while running. I paid $300 for it, a 36" deck and a 42" blade. I bought it mostly for the blade, but took a liking to it and overhauled the engine, replaced leaking seals and used it this past winter to plow what snow we had off the driveway. If you like it, and it will fill your needs, go for it. It's kind of like buying a used car.... you win some and lose some.
