Buzz 502 #5 Posted May 25, 2010 The cross reference to Gates is # 6982 and to NAPA is 5L820W. Remember these are FHP belts and not automotive belts. I personally prefer the OEM belts myself. Blueknightbob sent me this several years ago: Napa and Gates belts use a formula to get the right part number. NAPA The first part of the number is 4L = 1/2" wide The first part of the number is 5L = 5/8" wide The last part is the length. 700W = 70" long Napa 4L-700W is a 1/2" wide X 70" long Napa 5L-700W is a 5/8" wide X 70" long More examples: Napa number 4L-720W is a 1/2" wide X 72" long The "W" after the part number means heavy duty. Gates The first part of the number is the width. 68 = 1/2" The last part of the number is the length. 70 = 70" Gates number 6870 is a 1/2" wide X 70" long Gates number 6970 is a 5/8" wide X 70" long Gates number 6883 is a 1/2" wide X 83" long More examples: Gates number 6892 is a 1/2" X 92" long Gates number 6946 IS A 5/8" x 46" long So if the belt is 1/2' wide by 72" long: Napa number is 4L-720W and the Gates number is 6872
