stoneman 10 #1 Posted May 24, 2010 found this engine . . . runs good. complete with starter. guys asking 250 but will take 175. came of a late 60's jacobson tractor. will it fit in my 68 commando 8? will it fit in a 69 work horse 700? thanks (the guy couldn't tell whether the 3rd digit for the spec. was an 8 or a 6)

pfrederi 18,387 #3 Posted May 25, 2010 Both Spec numbers show up as a Basic engine. Usually Jacobsen has unique spec numbers. makes me think the the engine may not be original to the Jacobsen. What you have to do is measure the crankshaft length and look at eh oil pan to see if it will fit. You could probably change the oil pan but the crank = $$$ and time. stoneman 10 #4 Posted May 25, 2010 you are probably right. i couldn't find that spec # on the jacobsen engine site that i found. i'm not going to bother with it. if i can't find the right engine, i think i might go with the small yanmar diesel. we'll see. thanks.
